The People’s Papestry

Help us create the People’s Papestry with guidance from local Artist Matt D. Wright of @Matandhiscat social media fame.

See his Papestry work in Gallery 7 then visit the workshop to draw your own Papestry inspired drawing and add it to our collaborative artwork! Draw a building of your own with guidance from Matt and the Usher Gallery learning team.

This workshop is open to ages 3 and above. Parents/Guardians of participating children must remain on site. Babes in arms welcome.

This workshop is taking place in the Clore Learning room at the Usher Gallery. The Clore learning room is accessible by the entrance of the Usher. To find the Clore learning room, enter the Usher gallery by the glass extension entrance and go to the main door on the left. There are ramps and wide doors to accommodate wheelchairs, and a disabled access toilet oppositive the Clore learning room door, behind the reception desk.

This event takes place on Saturday 4 July 2026. The first session will run from 10:30pm till 12:30pm and the second will run from 1:30pm till 3:30pm

In this event you will be invited to draw on paper using handwriting and fine liner pens, then cut out your picture and stick it to the collaborative artwork paper.

This workshop is aimed at ages 3 and above. Parents are required to stay with children. 

This may be challenging if you have difficulty with hand dexterity but Matt and our instructor Rachel will be there to lend a hand. The space may be noisy with other children and adults in the space, if you struggle with loud noises we have noise cancelling head phones and fidget toys available.
