Summer at the Usher Gallery - Clay coil workshop

Have you ever tried making with clay? We have another clay workshop at the Usher Gallery, this time were making coil pots!

Local potter Victoria will be leading this workshop again and will guide you into creating your own coil pot so you can take it home and paint it.

Friday 29 August 2025, 1pm – 4pm

Please note this workshop is £2 but there is no need to book, simply pay at reception upon arrival.

What to expect:

This workshop is taking place in the Clore Learning room at the Usher Gallery. The Clore learning room is accessible by the entrance of the Usher. To find the Clore learning room, enter the Usher gallery by the glass extension entrance and go to the main door on the left. There are ramps and wide doors to accommodate wheelchairs, and a disabled access toilet oppositive the Clore learning room door, behind the reception desk.

This session will run from 1pm – 4pm, you are welcome to take break or drop in and out of the session as you please.

In this event you will be invited to use clay tools and your hands to hand built an air-dry clay coil pot.

This may be challenging if you have difficulty with hand dexterity, but Victoria will be at hand on the day to assist where required. The workshop will have spaces for up to 15 people at a time so it may be noisy, to help you with this we have noise cancelling headphones and fidget toys available.

Here at Lincoln Museum and Usher Gallery, we welcome all participants; if you still aren’t sure whether this workshop is accessible for you or someone you care for, please email us at ushergallery@lincolnshire.gov.uk and we can discuss your access requirements.
