‘Too vainy and bumptious’?

"'Too vainy and bumptious'? The story of Edward Lear's illustrations of Tennyson's poetry", is a small exhibition in the Usher Gallery.

In conjunction with Lincoln's Tennyson Research Centre, we celebrate the bicentenary of Edward Lear with this small exhibition exploring the history of Edward Lear's project to illustrate the whole collection of his friend Alfred Tennyson's poetry. The exhibition includes letters, sketches, watercolours and books and explains how Lear set about this ambitious project.
