The People’s Baron Project
Join in with the People's Baron Project and see your image and designs on the People's Baron this summer!
Would you like to see your image on the People’s Baron this summer? Or perhaps your paper doll’s design?
25 “Charter Barons” will be visiting Lincoln this summer to form a sculpture trail as part of the city’s Magna Carta celebrations.
One of these Barons is the People’s Baron which is being sponsored by Waitrose and will sit just outside of The Collection, near Steep Hill.
The work is being designed by Cynthia Harrison, a local artist, and will be decorated with the images of over 350 people; each person will be made up of a paper doll and bottle top with a sketch of a person.
Cynthia’s inspiration for the work is to create a contemporary miniature on a bottle top, a surface available the world over. The top serves as a jewel for the Baron, the paper dolls signifying chain mail and the strength of the people standing together.
If you would like to participate in the People’s Baron project you can do so either by submitting an image of yourself to be turned into a sketch, or by designing a paper doll.
Templates for the paper dolls can be downloaded from this page.
Images can be submitted by email: thepeoplesbaron@gmail.com Twitter: @CynthiaPortrait or Instagram: @cynthiaportraits. Please include on your email that you consent to your images being used in this project.
In submitting an image, or doll design you confirm that you give your permission for it to be used in the creation of the design for the peoples Barons as part of the Lincoln Barons Charter Trail.
Look out to see if your image has been included on the People’s Baron this summer from the 13th June until the 15th of September outside The Collection, which will also be hosting the Lincolnshire Great Exhibition, a fantastic collection of Lincolnshire artefacts.
