The Art of Dress: 18th Century Frocks and Finery

Exhibition The Art of Dress: 18th Century Frocks and Finery will be at The Collection Museum from 26 January to 24 March. This is a rare opportunity to see a unique Mantua gown and petticoat which has recently been conserved and restored. Free admission.

The exhibition includes other rarely seen historic costume, textiles and decorative art from the Lincolnshire County Council collections.To accompany the exhibition, textile conservator Sheila Landi will be giving a talk on her work on the mantua and the ethics of historic costume restoration.

The Lincolnshire Mantua: The Problems of Historic Costume will take place at The Collection Museum on Thursday 7 February at 2.30pm. This event has been organised by the Friends of Lincoln Museums and Gallery. Tickets are available from The Collection or the Friends Group www.lincolnmuseums.org.uk priced £6.
