Susan Wilson Artist Talk

Come and join us for an artist talk with Susan Wilson, co-curator of two major exhibitions at the Usher Gallery

SUSAN WILSON - Wednesday 20th March - 2pm - Please book in advance - Adults £5.00 / Students £3.00

The artist Susan Wilson will talk about memory of a childhood in the remotest part of New Zealand, (think Lord of The Rings mountain locations). Her imagery is sparked by her father and uncle'scollective memory of their experiences of war in Italy, and the opera houses visited when on rest and recuperation in Naples and Venice, as well as her own discovery of a painted lyrical and poetic world.

During the 1990s, Susan co-curated two major exhibitions with the Usher Gallery, Reclaiming the Madonna, Artist as Mothers and In the Looking Glass: Contemporary Women's self-portraits. Her painting Self-portrait with Arms was one of twelve self-portraits
commissioned during that project for the Usher Gallery collection.
