art as idea and art as action. In the first case, matter is denied, as sensation has been converted into concept; in the second case, matter has been transformed into energy and time-motion1

The repetitions, patterns and gestures appear here as a small section of activity in an expansive field of human action. Incorporating ordinary behaviors of the exhibitions audience, Lockwood has choreographed a set of movements that will be recognisable. The performance will develop throughout its duration by improvisational decision-making by the participants.

To coincide with this event, will be the launch of a publication organised by Joshua Lockwood, with contributions from Jennifer Gleadell, David McAleavey and Karen B. Schloss.

Joshua Lockwood (b.1991) is a visual practitioner currently working and living in Nottingham.
