Maintenance at the Usher Gallery

If you’re visiting the Usher Gallery over the next few weeks, you might find certain areas closed off, or artwork covered up or in crates. Sorry we’re not looking our best at the moment, but it’s all part of work we’re doing to improve visitor experience at the gallery.

If you’re visiting the Usher Gallery over the next few weeks, you might find certain areas closed off, or artwork covered up or in crates. Sorry we’re not looking our best at the moment, but it’s all part of work we’re doing to improve visitor experience at the gallery.

Thanks to funding from the Usher Gallery Trust, we’re able to upgrade all the gallery lights and install blinds on the windows that will let in more natural light whilst protecting the artworks from harsh sunlight.

We want people to still be able to access art for free in Lincoln so during the works the gallery will remain open, just with certain areas closed off to visitors where we’re installing the new lights and blinds.

Work began downstairs, and our ground floor galleries are now ready for us to rehang the art. We’re now working on the main staircase and will then start on the gallery spaces upstairs. On the first floor – accessed by the lift – the permanent gallery spaces are still open with incredible art on display.

If you want to know what areas will be open or if a particular artwork is currently on display ahead of your visit, please feel free to email us on ushergallery@lincolnshire.gov.uk.

Lincoln Museum will remain open as normal throughout this time.

Thanks for bearing with us. We look forward to welcoming you to our bolder and brighter gallery very soon!
