Lincoln School of Art and Design 1863-2013: History, Achievements and Directions
A free lecture by Jim Cheshire from the University of Lincoln, part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Lincoln School of Art.
To accompany the exhibition 'Past and Present: A Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Lincoln School of Art', now showing in the Usher Gallery, this free lecture will consider the history of the Lincoln School of Art and some of its notable alumni. Some well known Lincolnshire artists went on to make their name after leaving the School, including William Logsdail and Frank Bramley, who both went on to train at the Académie Royale de Beaux Arts in Antwerp; William Tom Warrener who went to Paris and became friends with Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec; and Fred Elwell who became a Royal Academician (as did Bramley). Jim Cheshire is Reader in Cultural History at the University of Lincoln.
The lecture is at 2pm on Wednesday 24th April in the auditorium at The Collection. Please book a place by contacting the museum on 01522 550965 or email thecollection@lincolnshire.gov.uk
