Learn The Art of Felting

A children's' workshop run by Rachel Olin to learn the art of felting.

The workshop will be run by Rachel Olin who currently has an exhibition on display in our Courtyard Gallery, featuring works involving felt.

The workshop will start with a little chat about what felt is followed by Rachel talking participants through how to make a felt sheet.

The process includes:

1. Setting out the equipment
2. Manipulating the wool into position,
3. The felting process (rubbing with soapy water),
4. 'Fulling' the felt (rolling in the bamboo mat),
5. 'Stressing' the felt (alternating cold and hot water),
6. Stretching ready to dry.

If the activities finish early there is the opportunity to felt coloured wool to make into felt beads or patterned sheets to take home.

Cost is £3.50 per child. 15 places available for chidren aged 8-16 years.
