Franklin: the dark myths

Discover the Canadian expedition...

Sir John Franklin's expeditions to the Arctic in search of the North West Passage and his mysterious death have become legendary in his native Lincolnshire. In this special lecture Ernest Coleman (a naval officer who led four Arctic expeditions) explores the legend. What befell Franklin and his crew? The discovery of one of Sir John Franklin's ships in the Arctic by a Canadian expedition provides the pretext for a second Special Lecture, following the success of last year. The event is as follows:

10:30 Arrival at The Collection for coffee and biscuits

11:00 Sir John Franklin's snow shoes: a chance to view this unique relic, not usually on public display

11:15 - 12:30 Ernest Coleman; 'Franklin: the dark myths.'

13:00 Dispersal
