Archaeology Day
Archaeology Day
After last year's very popular event, another Archaeology Day for visitors of all ages. This is part of the CBA (Council for British Archaeology) Festival of Archaeology and this year it will be run in conjunction with the Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire.
The children's activities this year include a chance to do a dig (limited places so first come first served), object handling (again limited places) and a chance to act in or watch a short play about Ancient Egypt followed by a film about Howard Carter the famous Egyptologist aimed at younger viewers. We also hope to have a display of rare books on Egyptian archaeology from Lincoln Central Library. There will be a £1 craft - making a replica of a Norman manor house (all other activities are free).
The Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire will be showcasing their services and activities. Find out about their latest projects and courses and get your finds identified by their resident experts.
Activities can only be booked at the venue on the day, please not try to phone to book as we are not taking phone bookings (this ensures everyone that books attends so others are not disappointed).
