Centenary Stitches
An exhibition of costumes from the World War I film 'Tell Them of Us'.
The Centenary Stitches exhibition brings together some of the costumes created for the First World War film Tell Them of Us, giving particular focus to the diverse range of knitted items produced for the project by a group of volunteer knitters, who ranged geographically from Orkney all the way to Omaha. The exhibition seeks to explore social history as expressed through the clothing of the era, and offer insight into women’s contribution to the war effort, which often took the form of knitting.
