This Saturday Laura Andrew will be taking up residence in the Usher Gallery within the LAS exhibition. During her residency, Laura Andrew will be working on a new splash bird painting. This collection began around 2018 and now has an excess of 35 artworks since. Learn more about her technique and understand how she starts by using a splash of watercolour. Laura will use paint to build up her splash bird painting. Her technique uses a combination of precision and spontaneity in her brush strokes.
Laura Andrew has been painting since she was a young girl and is constantly inspired by the colours and forms, she observes in nature. She is a full-time wildlife artist. Laura enjoys depicting subjects from the natural world in oil, exploiting the vibrant palette of this medium, but also, on a smaller scale, she uses watercolour to create her exquisite ’Splash Birds’. Using techniques combining precision and spontaneity, British birds are illustrated in an endearing and unique manner. Living and working in Lincolnshire, Laura exhibits and sells her paintings worldwide, including at the Society of Wildlife Artist’s annual exhibition at Mall Galleries, London - of which, she is an associate member.
