Lunchtime Lecture - The Charter of the Forest
Part of our Lunchtime Lecture series on Medieval Life and Law, this talk will look at the content and importance of the 1217 Charter of the Forest
Join guest lecturer Erik Grigg, local historian and Medieval manuscript PhD student, on a journey to discover one of the most important documents in English history. The Charter of the Forest, first written in 1217, sits alongside Magna Carta as a fundamental step on the road to rights and freedoms for the common man.
Lunchtime lectures start at 12.30 in the museum auditorium, and last for approximately 30 minutes.
